Bio / Curriculum Vitae

Brittany Spencer is a graphic designer and papermaker from Booneville, Mississippi. Brittany loved to draw and make crafts at an early age, and particularly enjoyed the act of storytelling with the creation of original cartoons. As a pre-teen she loved to design digital art using Microsoft's Paint software on her grandparents' bulky Gateway desktop computer, which sparked an early interest in graphic design.

Brittany received her Associate’s degree in art at Northeast Mississippi Community College, Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design at Mississippi State University, and recently finished her Master of Fine Arts degree in communication design at Louisiana Tech University.

While attending Louisiana Tech, Brittany experimented with hand-recycled papermaking and fell in love with the process. She uses her handmade paper in conjunction with traditional and contemporary methods to complete her illustrations, which are inspired by children and their awe-filled outlook on the world. Through this work, Brittany hopes that her adult audience will rediscover their childhood and how life can be a joyful, grand adventure.

Brittany currently works at Mississippi State University's art department as a lecturer of art and graphic design.
